The Natalie Foundation's indirect cost policy is to allow a maximum indirect cost rate of 10% for U.S. universities and academic institutions. The policy defines indirect costs as overhead and operational expenses that are not easily identifiable with a specific project, while also encouraging the inclusion of project-specific facilities, utilities, and communications as direct costs to better reflect the full cost of the work.
